How did you end up in the design industry?
I earned my degree in Interior Design in 2011 and worked briefly in the field before transitioning to a career in Elementary Education in 2016. When the world paused during COVID, I found myself drawn back to my passion and officially launched my design firm in 2021. So, I like to say this is both my first and third career!
What does your team look like?
Small but mighty! It’s me, my unpaid husband as our Director of Operations, my first full-time employee who just started as our Operations Manager, and a new intern who will start part-time as an Assistant Designer in the fall.
Tell us about the project you're sharing.
I call this the “House of David,” and the style is personalized to my clients — what I like to call Floripean (said like European) Glam. During our initial consult, I saw an array of glitz and glamour with splashes of color, but no cohesion… no WOW factor. The clients had way more personality than their home. It didn’t suit their lifestyle of entertaining, lacked his-and-his closets, and didn’t display their prized possessions. I drew inspiration from their travel collections, their love of glitz, and the bold colors already present in their home (especially the peacock blue and purple bedroom before we renovated).
What was involved in this project?
Our firm did a full-service whole home renovation and furnishings. The home is 2,300 square feet and located in the local country club. It is a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom home with an office that underwent a full gut renovation, with a remapped main living area and primary wing layout to create a larger kitchen, spacious primary bedroom and ensuite, his-and-his closets, and a larger pantry.
What's something you were really excited about creating for this project?
Sourcing the 1,600 lb Statue of David in the Foyer!
What was your biggest learning from this project?
We ordered EVERYTHING for this project… cabinetry, tile, furnishings, accessories, etc. This was our first time doing the whole package!
