When Everyone Wants a Piece of You
Lately, my inbox, texts, and DMs have been overflowing with messages from well-meaning friends, acquaintances, and even distant connections. They all seem to have one thing in common: they want my time and attention. It’s not lost on me that this sudden influx is largely because I’m going through a divorce—people checking in, inviting me to grab dinner, or just wanting to “chat.”
I appreciate the support, I really do. It’s a wonderful feeling to be thought of. But what I’ve realized through this season of life is how eerily similar it is to running my small business as an interior designer. Since we’re in a service-based industry, people constantly want access to you—whether it’s my clients needing a quick decision, a contractor wanting an immediate answer, or a potential client hoping to “pick my brain.”
As business owners, we become the default problem solvers, the trusted guides, and sometimes, the emotional support system. But just like in our personal lives, there’s a fine line between being available and being completely drained.
This experience has been a wake-up call for me to redefine boundaries (I know, I’m usually the boundary badass) —but I need to reset both in my personal life and my business. Just because people want my attention doesn’t mean I have to give it freely! I can appreciate their concern without feeling obligated to reply to every message. I can support my clients without overextending myself. And most importantly, I can prioritize my own well-being without guilt.
So, if you’re a business owner who feels pulled in a million directions, whether personally or professionally, take this as your reminder: your time and energy are valuable. You don’t owe unlimited access to anyone. Protect your bandwidth, set clear boundaries, and trust that the right people will respect them.

I just booked tickets for a big birthday trip to Marrakech and Spain in September (yay!)—then took a peek at my passport and realized it expires in August. 🤦🏽♀️ I could’ve sworn it was good for a couple more years! Just a heads up to double-check yours too, just in case!
I’ve been struggling with my rosacea lately and I’m open to trying nearly anything that will help me get it back under control and improved. Send me your recs!

My Riverfront Project is almost done! With the cabinets in, art installed and the fireplace retiled, everything is coming together. Watching this big element click into place was the best feeling—I haven’t shared the full reveal yet, but I know you’ll appreciate this sneak peek (above)!
I’ve been craving Spam musubi like I got when I was in Hawaii a few years ago so I’ve taken on the challenge of perfecting my own recipe. It’s been a fun and easy snack that I can share with friends.
