Why We’re Changing the Format (and What to Expect)

As we move into the new year, I keep coming back to how grateful I am for this podcast and the role it plays in our lives. It’s been a space for connection, honesty, and thinking things through out loud, especially in an industry that can feel isolating. Showing up for these conversations has mattered to us, even when everything else felt full.

What made last year work wasn’t big changes or major improvements, it was the ability to rely on the systems we’d already built. That foundation allowed the podcast to continue and stay consistent, even as both of us were carrying a lot personally and professionally.

That planning meant recording often weeks ahead to give us breathing room. It allowed the podcast to keep moving during stretches of demanding client work, and some major personal challenges, without asking for constant attention week to week. Instead of scrambling to stay current, we could trust the structure we already had and know the show would stay consistent, even when our focus needed to be elsewhere.

At the same time, recording far in advance meant we were often talking about things out of sequence. There was a lot happening personally alongside our businesses, and while we don’t share everything, we do try to bring our full selves to the show. When episodes were recorded weeks apart and aired later, it became harder to speak from the present moment or carry an ongoing story forward.

Much of 2025 was spent deep in the details. Major projects were underway or wrapping up, and business questions were still taking shape. Some weeks felt clear, others didn’t. The episodes that felt most alive were the ones where we were talking things through together in real time, rather than revisiting moments once they were already behind us.

What’s Next

All that said, we’re making a meaningful change to how the podcast works in 2026. Starting in February, we’re moving to a weekly release schedule, dropping new episodes every Friday, and letting go of set topics altogether. Instead of building episodes around a theme, each week will be us showing up as we are, bantering, sharing what’s happening in real time, and weaving in our Just Stop moments as they come up. We’ll also be bringing guests into this same kind of conversation. Less formal interviews and more honest, in-the-middle discussions with more of the cool people we’re excited to talk with.

Recording closer to when episodes go live keeps the conversations current and connected. It lets us talk through decisions in our businesses as they’re still unfolding, carry a clear thread from week to week, and brings you more of what our lives and businesses actually look like in *almost* real time on the show.

We’re taking January as a place to pause while we make the shift, and in February you’ll start seeing new podcast episodes. Not as a dramatic reset, just the next version of the show, one that feels more honest and allows for stronger connections with you (our Hotties) and our expanded design community.

We’re excited to head into 2026 this way and keep the conversation going with you.

If you’ve been with us for a while, thank you for being part of this amazing journey with us as we head into our seventh (!!!) year. And if you’re new around here, we’re so glad you found us. We’ll be back on the podcast every Friday starting in February and we can’t wait to share it with you.

Fizzles & Sizzles

Rebecca's Fizzle

Sacramento was blanketed in a thick, freezing tule fog for over 3 weeks with no sun. I kind of like gloomy weather but it felt claustrophobic and a gave me S.A.D.

My is daughter is obsessed with Christmas and did most of the decorating and all of the gift wrapping (except for hers). New parenting level unlocked.

Shaun's Fizzle

I love filling the holidays with get-togethers and friends, but I’m so sad when the new year comes, and we all go back to “normal”.

My Aunt sent me a pair of opal earrings that belonged to my Mom for Christmas, along with some homemade fudge using my Mom’s recipe.  #imnotcryingyourecrying
