How did you end up in the design industry?
I’ve always been drawn to the way spaces influence how we feel and live. After studying architecture and working in various creative roles, I realized that interior design was where my passion truly came to life. I love blending style with function to create environments that feel both beautiful and personal. That journey led me to where I am today, designing spaces that truly reflect the people who live in them.
What does your team look like?
It’s just me! I run a one-woman studio and handle everything from design work to managing my socials, YouTube channel, website, bookings, and client projects through Havenly. I stay organized and hands-on every step of the way.
Tell us about the project you're sharing.
This space was designed to be a cozy reading room that also works for game nights and hanging out with friends and family. Since it’s right off the kitchen, the idea was to create a comfy spot where people can easily gather, chat, and relax. It blends cottage, transitional, and eclectic styles. The main challenge was working with a small footprint while still making the space feel inviting and functional. We needed to fit in plenty of seating, so I added a settee and two swivel chairs without making it feel cramped. The result is a warm, layered space that’s perfect for reading, game nights, or just relaxing with friends.
What was involved in this project?
This project was a furnishing and decorating job for a cozy sitting room and reading nook, roughly 100 square feet. The room is located right off the kitchen, so the goal was to make it feel connected to the rest of the home while still feeling special on its own. I was responsible for the full design concept, furniture layout, sourcing, and styling.
The scope included creating a multifunctional space with plenty of seating, shelving for storage and books, layered lighting, and areas for relaxing or playing games. I selected all furnishings, designed the built-in shelving wall, chose the paint color (Cosmopolitan by Benjamin Moore), and made sure the layout supported both flow and function. It was also important to keep the space plant-friendly, so I incorporated the client’s existing plants into the design.
What's something you were really excited about creating for this project?
I liked that this project was a reminder of how important it is to truly listen to how clients plan to use their space and design around that. It’s not just about making it look beautiful; it’s about how the space makes them feel.
What was your biggest learning from this project?
The biggest takeaway was how important it is to balance mood and lightness while keeping the space functional for different activities. I also learned how much clients value having their personal touches, like plants, thoughtfully integrated.
