How did you end up in the design industry?
I originally went to school for architectural technology as I loved the idea of designing homes and thought I would maybe transition my education into becoming an architect. After working in the industry for a couple of years I decided that I absolutely love the interior design side of things and working with homeowners to make their house into their dream home. I decided to venture on my own and now help busy professionals and families turn their home into the sanctuary that they need at the end of a long day.

Tell us about the project you're sharing.
For this project, our client—a busy family of six, with demanding schedules—wanted a whole-home renovation that would not only make their space more practical but also bring warmth and simplicity into their lives. The existing layout simply wasn’t working: the back entrance was cramped, the kitchen lacked sufficient storage, and the kitchen, dining, and living areas didn’t provide the openness and natural light the family craved.
Their main priorities were maximizing functional space to accommodate their large family, reimagining the flow of the main floor which felt small and compartmentalized, and adding storage solutions for their busy lifestyle. We wanted to help them achieve a peaceful, light, and airy aesthetic in a modern farmhouse style.
What was involved in this project?
The home is a 1,200 sq. ft. bungalow, and we renovated the entire main floor. The bedrooms got a light facelift, while the main living area and bathrooms got a total overhaul. I started by creating a whole new layout for the main floor which included an addition to the back of the house. The new square footage made the ensuite bathroom large enough for a shower and gave us a larger dining area. We designed everything from the finishes, to the fixtures, and worked with the contractor to ensure the design was implemented as planned.
What's something you were really excited about creating for this project?
I was very excited to tear down the walls in the main living area and really let in the light throughout the area.
What was your biggest learning from this project?
Sometimes you really need to be on top of your contractor, even if you’ve worked with them before. Basically, don’t let your guard down.
